High-Speed Lamborghini Horror in Kanpur: Tobacco Tycoon’s Son Accused of Mowing Down Pedestrians

KANPUR — A high-profile hit-and-run incident involving a luxury supercar has sparked outrage in Kanpur after it was revealed that the accused is the son of a prominent industrialist. Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco tycoon K.K. Mishra, has been named by the police as the alleged driver of a Lamborghini Revuelto that ploughed into pedestrians and vehicles on Sunday afternoon.

The incident, which occurred on the bustling VIP Road near Rev-3 Mall in the Gwaltoli area, left at least six people injured. The controversy has been further fueled by allegations of police leniency and the initial filing of an FIR against an “unknown” driver, despite eyewitnesses claiming the accused was identified at the scene.

The Crash: “It Flew Into the Air”

Witnesses report that the Lamborghini (bearing the high-value registration number ending in ‘4018’) was being driven at breakneck speed when it lost control around 3:15 PM.

The vehicle first rammed into an auto-rickshaw before crashing into a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle rider was reportedly flung nearly 10 feet into the air. The car then mounted the footpath, dragging the motorcycle under its chassis before finally coming to a halt after hitting an electric pole.

Among the injured is a pedestrian identified as Taufiq, who sustained severe leg injuries. “My cousin was thrown off the bike, and two others were flung onto the footpath,” said Sonu Tripathi, a relative of one of the victims.

Controversy Over “Unknown” FIR

While the car was seized immediately, public anger flared when it was discovered that the initial police FIR did not name Shivam Mishra. Eyewitnesses alleged that immediately after the crash, private security guards (bouncers) arrived in a separate vehicle and whisked Mishra away from the scene, leading to accusations that his family’s influence was being used to shield him.

Under mounting public pressure and media scrutiny, the Kanpur Police later updated the case files to name Shivam Mishra. DCP (Central) Atul Kumar Srivastava confirmed, “The FIR of the accident was registered earlier, and now, in our investigation, we have learned that the name of the driver is Shivam Mishra.”

Who is Shivam Mishra?

Shivam Mishra is the scion of the Banshidhar Tobacco empire, owned by his father K.K. Mishra. The family is known for their lavish lifestyle and a fleet of luxury vehicles—including Rolls-Royces, Ferraris, and McLarens—most of which reportedly bear the signature ‘4018’ number plate. The family previously made headlines in 2024 during massive Income Tax raids that uncovered a trove of luxury cars and unaccounted assets at their Delhi and Kanpur residences.

As of Monday, the investigation is ongoing, with police examining CCTV footage to determine the exact speed of the vehicle and whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
